Eero Saarinen was one of the most celebrated, unorthodox, and controversial masters of 20th-century architecture. In many ways he was the architect of what has been dubbed “the American century,” the post-World War II era when the United States emerged as an influential world superpower.
The exhibition Eero Saarinen: Shaping the Future features never-before-seen sketches, working drawings, models, photographs, furnishings, films, and other ephemera from various archives and private collections. Come and celebrate this exhibition with an After Hours Preview Party on Friday, September 12 from 9 pm to 12 midnight.
Enjoy music, cocktails, complimentary Wolfgang Puck appetizers, film screening, an art-making activity in the Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab, and Party People Pictures.
• Local band Roma di Luna performs in Gallery 8 from 10-11:45 pm
• DJ Mike the 2600 King spins in the Cargill Lounge from 9:30 to 11:30 pm
• City Building Art Activity in the Star Tribune Foundation Art Lab from 9:15-11:30 pm
• The film The Gateway Arch: A Reflection of America screens at 9:30 and 10:30 pm in the Lecture Room
