Turn typical plastic bottles into artistic treasures while learning about the harmful effects these discarded items have on marine life. Led by artist-instructors Melissa Stang and Gretchen Doebler.

Art-making for the Entire Family: Seeded and Weeded

Make your own weed! Discover how seeds and pesky weeds can be transformed into art. Join artist Jim Proctor, who brings his favorite art material, buckthorn—an invasive plant species that dominates the understory of Minnesotan forests—along with pine cones, maple and ash seeds to families in this all-natural sculpture workshop.

Eco Education with Eureka Recycling
10 am–3 pm
Art Activity and Performance locations
Eureka Recycling, a local nonprofit waste-reduction organization, will be on-site to help achieve a zero-waste event and educate families on composting, recycling, and reusing materials.

Family Tour: WAC Garden Packs
10 am–2 pm

Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden by checking out a new WAC Garden Pack. This kit contains fun hands-on activities to engage you and your child’s imagination on a self-guided tour of the Garden.

Performance: The Brass Messengers
11 am and 1 pm
Belvedere stage
The Brass Messengers are a twin cities outfit of eleven who play whatever type of music that will fit into their horns. Based around the Gypsy brass styles of Romania, they also put their own spin on Latin American dance rhythms, Afro-Pop, and American country music.
