Section C (ages 10–12)

Spend a day at each of five cultural arts organizations: the Children’s Theatre Company, the Walker Art Center, Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Minnesota Center for Book Arts, and Zenon Dance Company. Work with artists at each site to create original sound experiments, performances, prints, handmade books, and dances. Friends and family are invited to a presentation at the end of class at each location. Participants must provide their own transportation to each institution and bring a bag lunch each day.

At the Walker, join sound-art duo Bianca Pettis and Jacob Aaron Roske of Beatrix*JAR to make nontraditional musical instruments, produce experimental electronic music with circuit-bent machines, and go on an audio scavenger hunt.

Summer’s Cool, part of the Walker Art Center’s Raising Creative Kids Initiative, is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.
